Noise from Bottom Bracket

How do I know I have this issue?

You will hear a constant 'creaking noise' from the bottom of the bike as you pedal.

What causes this issue?

Usually, this issue comes from come from one/multiple screws of the BB that aren't correctly tightened and/or don't have Loctite on them, probably the drive-side screws (hidden behind the front sprocket).

How can I fix it?

You will need to confirm the issue with Cowboy through the Cowboy app. Once confirmed, please raise a ticket with DASH Support and we will arrange for the bike to be repaired by one of our DASH Service Partners.

Instructions for repair

  • Remove the belt, both crank arms and the front sprocket
  • Tighten all screws on the BB (both drive and non-drive sides), according to the torque table (drive side: 3 Nm, with Loctite; non drive side: 8 Nm).
  • We expect removing the 2x drive side screws, adding Loctite and tightening them to 3 Nm should do the trick.
  • Reinstall the front sprocket and tighten it to the correct torque (30 Nm), then grease and reinstall both crank arms (45 Nm).
  • Check the torque of the rear sprocket lock ring if the noise remains (45 Nm).
