Start by carefully removing all of the foam packaging and zip ties. Carefully lift the bike out of the box and locate the tool bag.
1) Attach the handlebars
- Remove the 4 bolts on the stem faceplate using the 4mm Allen key and lift away the faceplate. You can see where the stem plate is located in the image below.
- Lift the handlebars into position and place the stem faceplate back into position
- Screw in each of the 4 bolts to secure the faceplate and handlebars so that each bolt is firmly and evenly tightened
2) Attach front fender
- Remove the 2 bolts on the inside of the front forks (positioned about half way down) using the 4mm Allen key
- Remove the bolt securing the front light using the 5mm Allen key
- Slot the front fender into position under the forks
- Secure the 2 fender arms at the eyelets using the 4mm Allen bolts
- Attach the top of the fender behind the rear light and secure using the 5mm Allen bolt
3) Attach front wheel
- Remove the plastic spacer from between the brake pads in the front caliper - you should be able to simply pull this out using your hand
- Place the front wheel into position in the front forks - the brake rotor needs to slot into the gap between the brake pads and the axle of the wheel needs to sit inside each dropout at the bottom of the forks
- Unscrew the thumbnut (number 7 in the diagram below) and one of the springs (number 6 in the diagram below) from the quick release skewer.
- Place the quick release skewer through the axle of the wheel, from the side without the brake rotor.
- Place the spring back onto the skewer (narrow end first) and screw the thumbnut back on.
- With the wheel centred in the fork, adjust the quick release by opening it, holding both ends and turning one clockwise until, when you close the lever, you feel some resistance. At this point, try to close the lever. The adjustment is correct when you can fully close the lever but with some effort (the lever should leave its impression in the palm of your hand). The front wheel is now safe and secure
4) Attach Pedals
- Identify which pedal is the left pedal and which is the right by looking for the small 'L' and 'R' indentations by the threaded section of the pedal.
- The left pedal is counter threaded so you will need to screw this one in counter-clockwise. The right pedal is screwed in clockwise.
- Screw each pedal in by hand to ensure they don't cross-thread and damage the crank. Once you've screwed them in as far as you can by hand, use the 15mm spanner to tighten them - you'll want to tighten very firmly to ensure they don't work their way loose while riding.
Operating the bike
The Buzzbike has three different modes so you can change your riding experience to suit your journey. To select a different mode just push the button on the top tube. The button will light up in a different colour to show that you’ve chosen a different mode. After a few seconds it will go back to green. Don’t worry, it hasn’t changed out of the mode you selected.
The modes are:
- Eco (Cyan) – Reduces motor power to maximise battery range up to 65km
- Sport (Blue) – Middle power and range up to 45km
- Turbo (Purple) – Maximum power. Range is reduced to around 35km
How to power up:
- Press and hold to power on and off
- Double tap to toggle lights on and off
- Quick press to select power modes: (1)Eco, (2)Sport, (3)Turbo
